
After lunch we made our way to a cave carved out in a mountain. Its origins date back to WW2 but thats really all we got from the Japanese. This is where Sake is stored and aged. It was actually beautiful until we spotted bats flying around....



Each year Rotary District 6380 sends a team of young professionals on a month long Group Study Exchange to another Rotary District. This year the team is being lead by Rotarian Lori Sprague. Team members include: Jennifer Jacobson, Heather Sarson, Preya Shah and Dustin Tierney. Alternate team leader, Susan Earp and alternate team members Chantal Perry and Elizabeth Severance. They will be visiting Rotary District 2550 in Tochigi Prefecture in October 2009.
Lori first traveled to Japan in 1978 as a Rotary Youth Exchange student. She spent a full year in Nagano prefecture where she attended. In 2005-06, Lori served as president of the Dexter, Michigan Rotary Club. She is currently serving as an assistant governor in District 6380, which includes parts of southeast Michigan in the US and southern Ontario in Canada. Lori has been a Rotarian for 15 years and is a Paul Harris Fellow. Lori earned a Master of Engineering in Manufacturing degree in 1996. Lori’s family includes her husband of 26 years, Jim, and sons, Kent (17) and Clark (12).
Heather currently resides in Chatham, Ontario, Canada. She is married to Dave and has two boys, Carter (age 8) and Spencer (age 6) as well as their dog, Maxx. She is a Music Therapist and co-ordinates Recreation Services for Children with special needs at a Children’s Treatment Centre. Together with her family they love to camp, go to the beach, and swim! Musically, she enjoys playing the violin and piano.
Dustin is from Royal Oak Michigan where he has spent a majority of his 25 years. He received his degree this past December and while continuing his search for a career he stays busy managing 2 retail establishments in Royal Oak. Dustin has recently taken an interest in international service projects and was fortunate enough to travel with Rotarians to Nepal and Honduras. He likes to spend his free-time snowboarding and golfing
Preya has been a Physical Therapist for 10 years. She was born and raised in Rochester Hills Michigan. After years of practicing physical therapy, Preya has become more aware of how all aspects of the mind, body and spirit can manifest into physical pain and disease. Personally, she is adventurous, fun-loving, and kind. She is willing to try most things and maintains a positive attitude toward the world
